About us
London Gifted & Talented was launched in January 2004 to provide support and services to London's gifted and talented students and their teachers. We have developed and delivered over 250 different learning and teaching projects, including student programmes, professional development and training, and over 30 e-learning packages and web-based resources.
LG&T's reach has spread throughout the UK and beyond. Our web-based resources are accessed nationally and internationally, and good practice has been shared through conferences and workshops across the country. Our training and consultancy services are now being sought as far a field as Kenya, Hong Kong and Finland.
Education expertise
Matt Dickenson
Matt Dickenson is Equalities and Achievement Director with London Gifted & Talented, leading the REAL Project (Realising Equality and Achievement for Learners) the first systematic attempt to improve the quality of G&T education for pupils from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and those learning English as an additional language (EAL). Prior to joining LGT, he taught for twelve years and was also Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning at the National Academy for Gifted & Talented Youth (NAGTY).
Matt has diverse experience in the design, writing and delivery of professional learning for teachers, across all key stages, including GCSE Star Performance, which has involved more than 300 schools. He has delivered training and consultancy services for local authorities and schools around the country and organisations such as the National Strategies and Ofsted.
Ian Warwick
After 18 years as a classroom teacher in inner city schools, Ian wrote the original vision document and created the consortium of local authorities, higher education institutions and the private company that became London Gifted & Talented.
His key role as a Senior Director is to increase the organisation's reach and impact. He has been managing over 50 public and private organisational relationship as diverse as the British Library, the V&A, NASA, the Youth Sports Trust, Imperial College, Future Lab, QCA, Crossrail and the National Strategies. His main interest is in urban education.
Online expertise
LG&T has considerable experience in the creation of online learning experiences and multimedia resources. Teacher Tools, our online 'one-stop shop' for gifted and talented educators, remains one of LG&T's flagship resources in terms of its range of content and accessible navigation structure.
In Between the Lines, our most widely used e-resources for students and has been nominated for several awards. It focuses on controversial issues, argument and opinion, encouraging users to develop their critical and creative thinking skills.
More recently LG&T has explored the potential for Web 2.0 tools to promote collaboration and networking. LG&T has delivered 27 learning networks, each with a web-based community at its heart.
